"This is not a B&B but an oasis for relaxing and finding a beautiful building and location. Extraordinary beautiful room and view with stunning walks on the door step. A luxurious feel at such an affordable price with a class act in the people who run this." - 25 October 2015

We have three double en suite bedrooms, with tea and coffee tray, TV, and telephone. All the rooms are beautifully decorated by artists, and have views over the countryside.

The guests’ end of the house has its own large dining room and drawing room with log fire, piano, and plenty of games and books.

The Bed &; Breakfast price includes our substantial English breakfast. This includes cereals ( home made as well as the usual varieties ), and then a choice of traditional English cooked breakfast, or kipper, poached haddock, or continental breakfast.

Free Wifi.

Dating from c. 1750, the room has three large windows, facing South and East, and so is beautifully light and airy. It is very spacious, and easily sleeps three people (there is a sofa bed). The room and its en suite bathroom are hand painted throughout, with the help of local artists.

Warmly decorated in Regency stripes, hand painted as all our rooms are, the Striped bedroom is large and comfortable; the two large windows provide views over the small farms of Stanshope.

There is an additional single bed in this room to accommodate a third person if required, TV, tea and coffee tray and telephone.

The twin bedroom is our smallest room, made up of a suite of bedroom with two single beds, the bathroom and separate toilet.

It is cosy and warm, it also has a wonderful bathroom, hand painted in an Egyptian theme, which we believe to be the first bathroom built in the house, probably around seventy years ago. A detail from the bathroom is shown above.

As with all our rooms, it has a colour TV, tea and coffee tray, and a telephone.

The drawing room, like all our rooms, is hand painted, in this case in the manner of Rex Whistler.

It has a beautiful open fireplace, 19th century, which is always lit in cold winter months.

There is a piano, and plenty of games; also an information table which gives ideas for places to visit in the locality.

We can provide light suppers by the fire in the drawing room. Typically, these consist of home made soup ( using vegetables from our garden where possible ) followed by a plate of delicious mixed sandwiches, and a slice of Lynne’s cake. We have an interesting wine list and are fully licensed.

Alternatively we can book a table for you at the Watts Russell Arms which is ten minutes walk away. This pub provides unusual freshly cooked dishes created by the landlord, Bruce. For more information see
